Editing

On Friday 5th February, Jamie, Danielle and myself filmed the last few missing scenes from our film - which included:
- The Boyfriend (Jamie) leaving the house through the front door
- Miss Red (Danielle) emerging from the shadows and making her way to the door
- Miss Red opening the door with a key
- Miss Red stepping into the house.
We needed to re-film these final shots as we had previously saved these extra shots on the schools backup memory source "The Lacey" but due to complications, we never retrieved our work from this source. We recieved help from another pupil from the class - Richard Parrish, who acted as a very efficient runner for the team.
The shots filmed were completed succesfully and on Monday 8th February we uploaded the extra clips onto our Apple Mac. After the end of our lesson, Jamie and Abbie stayed up and slotted our new clips where needed, as Danielle and myself attended another lesson.

Our film is now nearing completion and we are all very proud of all the work put in. Next lesson we are planning on burning our film onto a DVD so it can be displayed in option evening, where pupil's thinking of returning to sixth form can see what they can expect from media studies A/S.

Log Line for Miss Red

Miss Red is a physcological thriller which outlines an ex girlfriends obsession with a past lover, who will stop at nothing to break up his current relationship.

Target Audience

We've been doing some audience research and we feel that the thriller itself should be targeted at 15. A 15 is mostly what thriller films are aimed at and because it has some gory scenes and the nature of the film is mature enough for an audience of 15+.

Having interviewed our class about our favourite films, it was apparent that a film with the genre of a thriller/horror was the most watched with popular films such as 'the silence of the lambs' 'saw' 'the grudge' and many more.

All of these films were rated 15+ so this helped us give us a genral idea of what age we should be targetting our audience. We did consider targeting a much older audience but we thought that this would limit our audience as the majority of cinema watchers are ages 13 - 24.

Our group are currently giving out surveys to a variety of people of different ages/genders and we are currently awaiting for there response.

Media Lesson - Music Decisions

Today in media we've been looking at a variety of music. Miss Slater mentioned she spoke to someone from the BBC who can help us out with copyright free music. We've played around with our film and put Rihanna - Russian Roulette over the top and have decided it suits our film well so this is a possibility. We obviously won't be using the actual song but something that sounds quite similar. We want our music to have a slow pace at first, Ms. Red will then enter the house, the pace will start to increase as we've cut clips shorter to match with the music to create suspense.

At the start of the film we have an establishing shot of the house, then we see Becky and Jamie sitting on the sofa, he then leaves the house so for all of this we won't be having any music. Jamie walks out of the drive where you see Danielle, our very own Ms.Red who comes out of the shadows. This is when our music will begin as it adds to the mystery to the audience about the misread character. The music will be at a slow tempo as this will help to create the eery atmosphere.

Upload

We've uploaded our film for the third time onto the mac, it's been edited but were missing shots as they didn't save from last time so we're having to go back and film again. This isn't too much of a problem as the shots are just of Ms.Red acted out by Danielle Evans walking into the house as Jamie leaves.
We will be arranging another day for filming for this week so we can get the last shots up onto the macs to continue our editing. So far our film looks how we'd hoped it to and were happy with how its turned out.

Problemo!

As a group, after evaluating our film together and discussions with our media teachers, we have decided to change the plot slightly to our opening sequence. It was found to be too obvious as of what was going to happen, so we decided to change it so our serial killer sneaks upstairs, not to the girlfriends attention and starts to go through the girlfriends stuff, to make it seem more of a interlectual thriller rather than a commercial thriller.
We all decided this was a better idea because it was different to all the usual plotlines within the thriller genre, we have new storyboards, shot lists and photos of the location to be uploaded and our film is the middle of being edited, we are all very excited. As they say - THIRD TIME LUCKY!

Filming Day!

As we had finished our storyboard and we have paid our deposits on our cameras, we decided to start filming on Sunday 6th December.
Our team made our way to Becky's House at 4.30pm to commence filming, we chose this time as it is twilight time, where the sky is dark, but not too dark that we find it hard to film and achieve our shots. We could not commence filming on Saturday 5th December as we have dedicated jobs to uphold, and our shifts clash leaving us with no filming time.
We finished filming around 7.00pm, resulting in three hours being put into our production and bar household pets running into the occasional shots and a few giggles from our actors, filming went extremely well and we are very excited to start editing our clips.
