Filming Day!

As we had finished our storyboard and we have paid our deposits on our cameras, we decided to start filming on Sunday 6th December.
Our team made our way to Becky's House at 4.30pm to commence filming, we chose this time as it is twilight time, where the sky is dark, but not too dark that we find it hard to film and achieve our shots. We could not commence filming on Saturday 5th December as we have dedicated jobs to uphold, and our shifts clash leaving us with no filming time.
We finished filming around 7.00pm, resulting in three hours being put into our production and bar household pets running into the occasional shots and a few giggles from our actors, filming went extremely well and we are very excited to start editing our clips.

Ms. Read Storyboard

Here is our finished Storyboard of our opening sequence

"Ms. Red"

We have struggled the last couple of days to upload the storyboard onto the group blog, as we didn't have access to a scanner but Becky has taken photos of the storyboard due to the advice of our teacher. The pictures are not amazingly clear, but it gives you a good idea of what is going on in the opening sequence. Becky had to go over the pencil drawings with a black fine line pen to show the pictures clearly before uploading.
This helped us out alot whilst filiming, as it made us very organised and everything seemed to have gone to plan.

In todays lesson we are continuing to plan our film. We are using our video Production booklets to fill in our research and planning section (pre-production).

We are currently filling in the group production roles grid. The following is the roles and tasks that people have in our group:

Ms. Red Script

Scene One - Outside the House
1. Establishing shot - Facing the House.
2. Medium Shot - Looking in through the window at the girl and boy cuddling on the sofa watching television.

Scene Two - Inside the Lounge
1. Medium Shot - Inside the House, Boy and Girl cuddling on the sofa.
Boy: (looks at watch) I gotta go to work
Girl: What time you gonna be home?
Boy: I dunno...late probably
Girl: Awhh...Okay.
Boy: (Kisses girl on the forehead)
Boy walks out of frame towards the door.
2. Medium Shot - Boy walking out of lounge door and towards front door, he opens the door and closes it behind him.

Scene Three - Doorway (Outside)
1. Medium Shot - Boy walking out of the door into frame and then out.
2. "Same Set up of shot" - Lady in Red walks out of the shadow and towards the door.
3. Extreme Close-Up - Lady in Red opening the door slowly, door creeks.
4. Close-up - Lady in Red's legs walking through the door and closing it behind her.
5. Extreme Closeup - Lady in Red's shoes walking towards the camera.

Scene Four - Lounge
1. Close-up - Girls face, she hears chimes outside in the hall, she looks towards the door.
Girl: Jam?!
2. Medium Shot - Girl walking towards the lounge door, she opens it.
3. Closeup Shot - Girl looking into the hallway, she shrugs and closes the door. Camera then pans left, showing the lady in red hiding behind the door with a gun to her chest.
4. Medium Shot - Girls walks back into the lounge, Lady in Red bursts in. (NOW OTS SHOT DUE TO GIRL SPINNING ROUND)
Girl: What are you doing here?!
5. Close-up Shot - Lady in Red holding the gun.
Lady in Red: Because he loves me.

Screen goes black, followed by a gun firing.
We will then have white Gothic font reading "Some People are Often Misread" but 'Misread' will be in Red. 'Misread' will then dissolve to read "Ms. Red"

- This is an outline of our script for our film "Ms. Red" - we have all came to a decision on our ideas, and each idea was an input by each member of the group equally. We may make minor changes whilst filming as ideas might spring to us during this time, but this is a basic idea on our opening sequence. Becky Baker is currently drawing up our storyboard from this information and we will be able to start filming our sequence very soon, we are all very excited.

Character Ideas

There will be three characters in our opening sequence.
Our main character "The Lady in Red" is our glamorous, yet jealous and dangerous ex-girlfriend.
We want to portray her in the following ways:

Glamorous, Mysterious, Elegant, Jealous, Sexy, Pretty and Posh.

As we have almost no dialogue from the lady in red in our opening sequence, the only way we can portray this from the lady in red is through her persona and by her appearance.
This is why her costume will consist of a silky black dress, a red coat and red heels, making her seem well-dressed and wealthy. We will also give her a large red bag to keep with the theme of red and wealthiness.

Our Second Character will be the boyfriend. He is a young male and we wish to portray him as being:
Innocent, Cool and Loving.
His costume will consist of a black polo shirt and trousers with a name tag (due to going to work) and a raincoat.

Our Third Character is the new girlfriend that the Lady in Red is seeking revenge on. We wish to potray her as being:
Sweet, Innocent, Naive and Scared.

Opening Sequence - Title Ideas

During the last two weeks, our media lessons have been quite disruptive as our yearly school production had been put onto the stage for the public. Meaning that many of the media class, including Jamie, Abbie and Becky were absent for a few days, leaving Dannie to her own devices. Finally, we are all back together after a fantastic production and are ready to work hard again!

The first lesson we were all back together, we decided to brainstorm what to call our opening sequence.
Below is a list of our favourite eight names:
1. Rouge
2. Blood Red
3. Seeing red
4. Kiss from a rose
5. Scarlet kisses
6. Suburbia
7. Roses are dead
8. Ms. Red

We decided to go with the name Ms. Red.
We picked this as we thought it was the most mysterious and we are using it as a play on words. (e.g Ms Red/Misread.)
We attend to emphasise this play on words by using graphics in our credits. The word "Misread" will change from the bold, Gothic, white font that the other credits that will be in, and will dissolve into red and "Misread" will change to "Ms Red." Next to this there will be a red lipstick printed kiss at the side of the words and this will slowly dissolve out.

Opening Sequence Planning

We have decided to go with our first idea out of our three final ideas shown in my previous post. We agreed as a group that we found this idea the most exciting, as we had many ideas and aspects for this opening sequence.

Opening Sequence Title: Ms. Red.

Plot Outline/Summary: Our Main Character 'the lady in red' is a serial killer who intises her vitims with her beauty and charm before brutally murdering them. She never gets caught, and enjoys that fact and continues to kill.

Opening sequence outline/summary: The Lady in Red enters a surburban house and has flash backs of the murder she has just commited. It ends with a phone call to 999 and her laughing on the phone. Showing her pure pleasure of her murders.

Characters: The Lady in Red, The Murder Victim and The Phone Operator

Mise en scene: Monochrome lighting, Suburbs, Interior of house, Close-up of specific items.

Settings: A surburban street, and the interior and exterior of the house in which the murder took place.

Locations: Rebecca Baker's Household.

Costumes: The Lady in Red: Long Red Coat, Slinky Black Dress and Red Accesories (hats, heels etc.) The Murder Victim: Shirt/Jumper and Jeans

Props: Knife, phone, fake blood.

Lighting: Sinister but not too dark to ruin effect and loose important actions. When editing our film we can retouch some sequences lighting to help with the atmosphere that we which to create.

Narrative Planning Sheet

Before choosing our final narrative idea, we had to consider each idea that we had discussed amongst each other. Here are our final three ideas:

Idea 1:

The event: A serial murderer

Place within the narrative: A woman serial killer is out hunting for victims, she entices men with her beauty and charm and then murders them. The police are aware of her events, but they never catch her and she continues her killing spree.

The characters involved: The lady in red, who is our serial killer and her murder victim.

The mood/tone of the sequence: Mysterious, sinister and eerie.

Idea 2:

The event: Kidnapping.

Place within the narrative: A young girl gets kidnapped and the kidnapper demands a ransom. He tortures the girl until the police find the kidnapper. He is arrested and sent to prison

The characters involved: The young girl, who is our victim and the physcotic kidnapper.

The mood/tone of the sequence: Disturbing and ominous.

Idea 3:

The event: Dooms day.

Place within the narrative: The world is coming to an end and two friends must escape death. The world is destroyed and the friends come close to death.

The characters involved: Two friends, one boy and one girl.

The mood/tone of the sequence: Panic, erratic.
